A custom marine aquarium filtration room and in-home lab.

This room was built for a client with separate fish quarantine, coral quarantine, coral propagation, and aquarium display systems. CCW built the custom acrylic sumps, cabinetry, elevated fiberglass walking platforms, and custom formica countertops on every shelf and horizontal surface in the room to maintain a clean working space that will stand up to the abuse of prolonged exposure to the marine environment.

Front end (aquarium display side)

Custom automation was built by CCW to allow the 4' x 4' x 12" hood to slide out and hover past the end of the aquarium for maintenance purposes. The hood travels on 60" heavy duty ball-bearing glides and is advanced by an industrial grade stepper motor and lead screw assembly controlled by a custom programmed micrprocessor to interface with a key fob style remote which determines the operation of the motor and limit sensors.

Back end (aquarium filtration side)

To account for the weight of the Cherry aquarium hood, aluminum substructure, and 1500 watts of lighting needed for this coral reef aquarium, the back end of the hood retracts into the filtration room behind the aquarium. All wires are managed within the cable drag chain for safety and a cleaner installation. The custom built controller is mounted in a black acrylic housing manufactured by CCW.
